Kellogg Community College’s Arts and Communication department is launching a new summer program initiative in partnership with Bruin Youth Programming and the Lifelong Learning Department. The camp is focused on connecting area youth interested in the performing arts with “real” experiences related to education and careers through music and theater exploration; it will provide children ages 10-18 an opportunity to develop their musical and theatrical skills through hands on experience. Students will be coached on a variety of topics including group dynamics, mime, creative thinking, creative movement, acting for singers, theatre games, improvisation, vocal health, singing technique, basic music theory, aural development, solo and ensemble performance, and much more. Each participant will have an opportunity to take part in large and small group activities. This 2-week intensive workshop will culminate in a full musical presentation, which will be open to the public.
Students will have the opportunity to engage fully in every aspect of performance and explore their own voice and vision, while experiencing the art of collaboration as an ensemble participant. Students will participate in group sessions as well as private individualized lessons. All camp participants will work directly with our outstanding, internationally recognized artist teaching faculty.
Space is limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
